Blog Tip: Creating Collages

If you’ve been paying attention to posts around the blogosphere recently, I’m sure you’ve realized that collages are all the rage right now.  With Pinterest, Luvocracy, and websites like The Coveteur, collages are getting simpler and quicker to make.  Now, bloggers don’t have to sit around sifting through website after website to find the perfect top to blog about, or the perfect pair of shoes to feature in an outfit post.  Now, we can throw a quick search into any of these websites and pretty much find what we’re looking for!  Easy as pie, right?

So, if you’re looking to start creating collages for your blog, here are a few tips to get you started!

1. Simple backgrounds.  Keep your collage simple and easy to read!  I love checking out collages, but as many other bloggers will tell you, once the image gets too busy to actually see what’s being featured, it becomes not so enjoyable.

2. Label!  If you’re creating an outfit collage, make sure to label where readers can find each item.  I find it easiest to number the items in my collage and then create a link list below; this will save tons of frustration for your readers.

3. Keep it concise.  It’s easy to get carried away when creating a collage, but I typically try to keep mine between 5-15 items.  There are times when you might want to create a longer collage for a specific purpose, but otherwise, I find it easiest for both me and my readers to feature a collage that isn’t extremely long.  This will save tons of scrolling and will hopefully allow your readers to focus in on a few specific items.

What types of collages do you plan to feature on your blog?
