Thank you for this post. Color can completely change the look and feel of your blog. Being an newbie, I’ve been playing with color schemes myself as well. I found sites like http://design-seeds.com/ and http://www.colourlovers.com/ very helpful in my search for a good color scheme. The good thing about these sites is that they show you which HTML color was used so you can easily integrate it in your blog. I never new about this wonderful world of colors until I started my own blog.

  2. Very interesting article and I couldn’t agree more. Color is such an important feature, due to humans connecting through a visual world, and I think you’ve layed out some great tips to work from. Another point I think you could have touched on is unity, if someone’s website is not just a blog(forums and the like.)

Still great job and I look forward to reading more :)

Thanks Shawn! And great point–having a color scheme is important, but if it doesn’t unify the various parts and pages of a website, it isn’t doing it’s job as well as it could.

I think this post is great advice :) I try to go along with the seasons a bit when it comes to colour schemes :)
Colourlovers is a very good site to find colour schemes. Another site worth looking at is colorhexa (if you google this the site will come up first thing) You can find a different shades of a certain colour, complementary colours and so on. I find this very useful too :)
